The Versatility of Scarves
By gchicnotes
I remember shopping and seeing scarves thinking, “How am I going to wear that?”” Why would I need to wear a scarf?” Growing up in an environment when it was mostly warm year round, made me dismiss scarves off my list of must have wardrobe items. However, a few years ago as my taste evolved and cold weather came upon me (I now live in a climate that has cold weather), I looked at scarves and saw not only how beautiful some were, but how I could add this a new element to my wardrobe for a chic look.
Scarves come in various fabrics and shapes and sizes. Beyond the fall and winter seasons, scarves can be used year round by purchasing the right type. Let’s explore what options are available to you as well as some alternate uses for this fashion item.
Shapes of Scarves
There are three basic shapes of scarves, including: oblong, square or triangular.
Popular Fabric Types
Cashmere, Wool & Fleece- These fabrics are great for cold weather. Not only do they keep your neck warm, but they add an elegant sophistication to your style.
Silk, Cotton, Rayon & Chiffon-These lighter weight fabrics are a great option to add to your spring and summer wardrobe.
Alternate Uses
Scarves are a fabulous item to have in your closet. In addition to tying them around your neck, there are other ways to make use of this fabric.
· Use a large scarf as a sarong to tie around your waist when at the beach or sitting poolside.
· Tie in a loose knot on a simple straw or leather tote in the summer time to add some color and style while traveling.
· Use them to tie around your head as a cover up to keep your hair neat while walking outside on a breezy day (channeling Mary Tyler Moore). Or tie it around your head in a fitted manner and pair with medium to large hoop earrings for a street chic effect.
· Instead of a traditional belt, use a scarf through your belt loops for a nice fashionable flair.
· Wear a smaller scarf as a head band.

I love wearing bandanas as headbands. I get all mine from Walmart for a $1. Fold 'em and roll 'em up and wearing 'em as a headband is easy to do. You get a variety of colors and versatility. Great hub!
What a great price! Love a bargain! Thanks for the compliment.

Thank you for the compliment.
I love my scarves! Like Judi Bee I'm in chilly England so always have a scarf handy. I do a lot of hiking and even in the summer find space in my rucksack for a lightweight cotton scarf for when it gets a little chilly on the top of the hills!
Thats cool! That's what I like about them. The versatility. Thanks for the comment.
I love wearing scarves. I like to wrap mine around my neck and let both ends hang loose for a casual look. You did a great job on this hub; I voted it up and beautiful!
Thanks so much! The more I write the easier it becomes. I consider myself an amateur and love to do this for fun and to give advice in my field. So I appreciate the compliment from an experienced writer.

As I live in chilly England I have a tonne of scarves and wear one every day from around October to April! Excellent hub, enjoyed the video (without realising it I am wearing the "modern one loop"", the European loop" and the "magic trick" on a regular basis!) Bookmarked, I am going to try some new styles out.
